Series exhibited from October 21 to November 18 with "Auto-Censure" and the "Pubis" series at SEE U brussels as part of an entire exhibition on my work.

I've had the opportunity to organize all kinds of activities, including conferences, concerts, workshops and talk-shows.


"Don't we do things to conform, whether it's to avoid displeasure, to be accepted, to do what others do, or because we don't know any other way? How much time do we spend not being ourselves?

This is not a new question; Léonie accompanies the question of control over the body and sexuality that society frames for its own ends. Without going back to Antiquity, we know the famous examples of Michelangelo or Caravaggio. In the 19th century, when nudity became omnipresent in artistic production, censorship became confused with modesty, and hairiness triggered scandals. It was Édouard Manet and Gustave Courbet who shocked by treating bodies with realism, i.e. with closeness and truth. All artists who opposed the image of the body conveyed by the society of their time, paid a high price for their freedom of emotion and expression."
